Women’s Living Expo

Hi, Everybody,

This past weekend, Real World Personal Training had a booth at the 2010 Women’s Living Expo.  Some interest in my training was generated and we got some well-needed awareness of my studio.

I did four demonstrations on the stage of an in-home workout that were very well-received.  I’ll post the video of that on Wednesday.

The expo was an interesting experience and my wife and I enjoyed ourselves as we told people about my studio and my style of training.  We were also able to make new connections with other local businesses that will also help us to grow and whom we can recommend to others.

Videos of Fitness & Self-Defense Clinic

This past Saturday (Feb. 27, 2010), Kurt Frankenberg and I hosted a free women’s self-defense and fitness clinic.  Several ladies joined us to learn about the importance of fitness and also to learn some key self-defense moves.  I want to thank all the ladies for their participation in this clinic (they had a lot of fun hitting the tires with the sledgehammer!)  We hope to do more in the future.

My wife videotaped each of our presentations.  Links to those videos are below.  Due to time limitations, the videos are only clips of each of our discussions and demonstrations.  The ladies asked excellent questions, but we were not able to include these in the videos.

Fitness & Self-Defense Clinic

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine went very well.  On Saturday Kurt Frankenburg, owner of Freedom School of Martial Arts and I put on a fitness and self-defense clinic.  It was a fun time.  We had a good turnout and the ladies were awesome.  During the fitness clinic the ladies were swinging kettlebells and beating tires with a sledgehammer amongst other crazy stuff.  We had a discussion on nutrition and cleared up some of the myths.  We also talked about the myth of women bulking up.  This is always a major concern for females.  Just to make sure it is clear, 99% of women will not bulk up.  There is always the exception to the rule.  It was fun to see how much they enjoyed it and how willing everyone was to try new things.  Lots was learned and lots of fun had.

The self-defense clinic was a hit also.  The ladies were taught various self-defense moves from punches and kicks to a demonstration of some defensive moves to use if someone has you on the ground.  The most impressive part for me was to watch the ladies break boards with their bare hands.  Just so you know this was their first time to ever do something like that.  It was awesome to see.

I will post video of the clinic on Wednesday.
