I’ve worked out all my life but I started going to Bob’s morning workout classes about two years ago and it has proven to be the best thing I’ve ever done. While my wife and I have worked out in other gyms with traditional weights, machines and cardio equipment, we were both amazed as to how we could get the same type of workout, building muscle and breaking a sweat, while also keeping our heart rate up, with the equipment Bob has styled in his “one-of-a-kind” garage-type set-up. I personally was amazed as to the benefit I could obtain while using simple and easy tools that Bob provides. I was able to do pull-ups and push-ups with greater ease and less stress on my core, as well as squats, while caring for my knees, which aren’t what they used to be. 25# Lost with Bob’s Real World Personal Training (and a total of 75# lost in the last 3 years!)
I’m happy to say that in those 3 years, I have done it! But, what is different this time compared to all those other times? One of the biggest changes is that I realized exercise will always be part of my life, just part of my daily routine, like taking a shower. I re-connected with a charter member of Bob’s RWPT, Kathy, and she invited me to join her one day at Bob’s; I hesitated a bit as in the past. During that first session, I remember that Bob was kind, supportive, patient, took extra time to teach me, accepting of my current fitness level and encouraged me even when I had to take more resting breaks than the others in the class (and I still have trouble mastering that exercise ball but I’m not giving up!) Kathy and her friends were so fun to be with, everyone encouraged one another, told a joke or story here and there, and before I knew it, the 45-minute session was done! I loved the class; I was hooked!
I attend Bob’s classes 3 times week. Bob’s method of weight training is amazing! He pushes our muscles to failure, and it really does work. He mixes it up with kettle bells, hand weights, medicine balls, exercise balls, ropes, tractor tires, sledge hammers, exercise wheels, a ski-glider mat, cable weight machine, straps attached to the ceiling, callisthenic-style routines and aerobic exercises (Yes, this is Bob’s idea of fun in his crazy world, we all tease him about that)!
Many times, he shows us how we can adapt these exercises to do at home or while traveling and staying in hotel rooms. He also adapts the exercise if you have a physical limitation that doesn’t allow you to do the exercise the way it’s shown.
I’ve met so many new friends by attending classes, all so supportive and encouraging, I feel like we are all part of Bob’s family. I’ve been inspired and motivated by some of Bob’s super stars (along with his wife, Charleen) who have lost many pounds and inches, also giving the credit for their success to Bob. I am more fit now than I’ve ever been. I have muscle definition everywhere, even in my abs and arms, a first. I just completed a 5K race that I’ve walked in with the walkers in past years, but this year, I ran with the runners! I hope to never forget that euphoric feeling as I crossed the finish line.
My work-outs at Bob’s Real World Personal Training helped me lose the last, stubborn 25#. Recently during a class, when Bob said to me, “it looks like you are at your weight goal,” I knew I had made it! What a surreal moment now frozen in my memory. Even my loves-to-sleep-in and hates-to-work-out-b/c-of-bad-knees hubby saw the changes in me and has now joined in. I stopped dieting and cleaned-up my diet with Bob’s helpful tips. And this time, with the lifestyle changes I’ve made, I know I’m going to keep the weight off. Thank you, Bob, you helped me get my life back! I’ll always remember all that you’ve done for me. A friend recommended Bob to me. He had seen him working with clients in a local gym and was impressed with the exercises Bob was using with his clients. My friend commented that he didn’t do “traditional” exercises with machines or dumbbells; instead, Bob used a lot of body-weight exercises, and incorporated cardio aspects as well. When you first meet Bob, you’ll quickly get the impression that Bob does what he preaches!
Before going to Bob, I’d been lifting weights for a little over a year to gradually build up and get into shape. I thought I was doing great and was doing all the right things! Wow, was I wrong! From the types of exercises, to how much rest I should be getting, to what type of foods are best immediately after a workout, I had it all wrong.
Every exercise Bob has you do is based on movements and situations you will experience outside the gym in real life, every day scenarios. Each exercise will hit different muscle groups at once, thus maximizing your workout. What I was doing in a 1-hour workout before visiting Bob, I can now do in under 30 minutes and get a greater workout. He has helped me learn about what type of movements are best for different muscle groups and how to focus intensity on each group.
Nutrition is a major aspect of getting stronger and healthier – Bob can help anyone understand what types of foods are good for building muscle and why it is so important to eat the right things after a workout and throughout the week.
One of the greatest things about Bob are his crazy-looking workouts! He teaches you how to exercise wherever you are — be it on the road, in a hotel, at the park, in the garage, wherever. I often find myself thinking, “Oh, that looks easy!”, only to quickly discover that a simple LOOKING exercise can be quite tough and challenging. Every workout will challenge your strength, stamina, and balance! You will always finish a session with Bob knowing you are going to be stronger and better.

After getting out of the habit of going to the gym, a friend of mine suggested Bob’s Bootcamp class. It’s been 4 weeks since I started and I have already noticed an improvement in my core strength. Shoulder pain that I have had for the past two years has also improved. Bob’s class is an intense circuit designed to work opposing muscle groups by emphasizing core strength, cardio and balance. We work with weights, ropes, bands and balls at our own pace. Bob is great at encouraging you to push yourself to the max. I would encourage anyone to try one of his classes.
